About The Position

The Kitchen Utility worker supports the Guest Dining Department, with an emphasis on dishwashing and basic food preparation. The role helps with food deliveries as directed, maintains dish machines and dishwashing areas according to sanitation guidelines, and maintains the Forest Center dumbwaiter and stairs according to sanitation guidelines. The employee works closely with Kitchen Managers at each respective facility and has no supervisory responsibilities. The position also supports and participates in staff spiritual-life activities, including Staff Devotions and Staff Retreat, and upholds Forest Home’s mission, vision, and core values.

Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, and sit, and sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate office machines.
• Ability to perform mild physical work, including some lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 20 pounds.
• Visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person or over the phone.

Responsibilities

• Assist with basic food preparation when needed and develop capabilities in this area.
• Assist with food deliveries as directed by the supervisor.
• Wash silverware, dishware, pots, pans, and other items to sanitation requirements and guest-satisfaction standards.
• Maintain dish machines and dishwashing areas according to sanitation guidelines.
• Maintain the Forest Center dumbwaiter and stairs according to sanitation guidelines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Actively support and participate in staff spiritual-life activities, including Staff Devotions and Staff Retreat.
• Work closely with Kitchen Managers in each respective facility.
• Maintain regular, timely attendance and a professional attitude, appearance, and demeanor.
