About The Position

The Inn at Willow Grove is seeking a line cook for Vintage, its Forbes Travel Guide Four Star-rated restaurant in Orange, Virginia. Vintage serves regional American cuisine with a twist, using seasonal ingredients sourced locally from Central Virginia. Its offerings include lunch, dinner, gourmet pub fare, Sunday brunch, and special menus for holidays and celebrations. The role prepares food to the chef’s specifications, sets up stations for the menu, and assists the executive and sous chefs with daily tasks. This full-time, hourly position pays $20.00–$21.00 per hour and includes health insurance. The successful candidate will help deliver an exceptional dining experience and contribute to customer satisfaction.

Requirements

Understand various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
Demonstrate accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
Be familiar with industry best practices.
Be able to work on your feet for eight hours or more per day.
Demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
Be comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Have excellent verbal communication and organization skills.
Be able to lift at least 40 pounds regularly.
Have valid identification and reliable transportation.
Be available to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Responsibilities

Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
Prepare food for service, such as chopping vegetables, butchering meat, and preparing sauces.
Cook menu items in cooperation with the kitchen staff.
Answer to, report to, and follow instructions from the executive or sous chef.
Clean the station and store food properly.
Stock inventory appropriately.
Ensure food is served simultaneously, at high quality, and in a timely fashion.
Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards.
Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
Use common sense in carrying out job responsibilities.
