About The Position

As a Kitchen Helper, you help create a positive dining experience for residents by preparing, stocking, and maintaining an appealing salad bar for lunch and dinner. You support residents with friendly dining-room service, keep tables clean, and help maintain a safe community by washing and sanitizing tableware, cookware, and equipment. The role also involves dish-room upkeep, cleaning food preparation areas, supporting daily food preparation, and performing other kitchen support tasks.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Ability to work a consistent schedule of Tuesday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
• Ability to read, speak, and understand basic English.
• Able to obtain food handler permits as required by local ordinances within the first two weeks of employment.

Responsibilities

• Operate the dish machine by loading, running, and unloading it, report mechanical issues, and monitor and log water temperatures to ensure proper sanitization.
• Wash, store, and handle tableware and kitchenware carefully.
• Maintain a clean, organized dish room and ensure sufficient clean items are available for the dining room and kitchen.
• Clean food preparation and production areas as needed.
• Assist in the dining room by bussing tables, filling water carafes, preparing tables before meals, and delivering room-service orders.
• Safely use ovens, steamers, grills, sharp utensils, and small appliances to support daily food preparation.
• Listen and respond politely to food comments or complaints and promptly report concerns to leadership.
• Perform support work and additional tasks, including trash removal.
• Prepare, stock, and maintain the salad bar.
