About The Position

DO & CO is hiring a Kitchen Helper to join its Des Plaines, Illinois team. The company operates in airline catering, international event catering, and restaurants, lounges, and hotels across 33 locations, 12 countries, and three continents, with a focus on high standards in its products and services.

The Kitchen Helper supports senior kitchen team members and assists chefs and cooks with basic kitchen tasks, including preparing hot and cold meals, both halal and non-halal. The role also involves handling deliveries, rotating stock, preparing vegetables, maintaining hygiene and food safety standards, and reporting food safety management issues to the manager and hygiene and food safety team. The position requires flexibility to work different shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, based on business needs.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior team members in running a busy kitchen.
• Handle deliveries and assist with stock rotation.
• Ensure food is prepared and cooked according to specific standards.
• Maintain high standards of hygiene.
• Assist chefs and cooks with basic kitchen tasks, including preparing hot and cold meals (halal and/or non-halal).
• Prepare food by washing, chopping, and dicing vegetables using a knife or peeling machine.
• Comply with food safety and hygiene regulations in the food safety management system handbook.
• Report problems with the food safety management system to the manager and hygiene and food safety team.
