About The Position

Idaho Power — located in vibrant Boise, Idaho — is looking for a Key Account Energy Advisor to join our Customer Operations team. It’s an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. The Key Account Energy Advisor serves as a trusted resource to provide customer solutions and technical expertise to resolve complex and sensitive issues for assigned key account customers (i.e., large commercial, industrial, special contract, and strategic customers). They proactively develop, build and maintain strong relationships with customers as their trusted advisor by applying project-management practices to communication, planning, and follow-through. They maintain a high level of customer satisfaction and are highly effective in two-way communication, problem resolution, negotiation, with advocacy and influence on behalf of the company.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical facilities operating and protection equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and equipment in large commercial and industrial applications pertaining to energy delivery equipment.
  • Knowledge of electrical utility distribution and transmission operations practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of metering practices and requirements.
  • Knowledge of distributed energy technologies.
  • Knowledge of power quality issues and mitigation options.
  • Knowledge of economic development initiatives and new large load process.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems, lighting, pumps, and motors.
  • Knowledge of sales techniques and selling processes.
  • Skills in project coordination, public speaking, presentation, and negotiation.
  • Skills in customer-focused listening and interpersonal communication.
  • Skills in using personal computers and related software applications including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships through established trust, critical thinking, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to manage projects.
  • Ability to facilitate projects.
  • Ability to perform complex billing analysis.
  • Ability to read architectural plans, plat maps, feeder maps, and work order maps.
  • Ability to explain and interpret Company rules, regulations, and rates in detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with various customer and management levels, including engineers and managers as well as corporate officers.
  • Ability to work as a team member with all Company departments.
  • Ability to be flexible and creative in approaching job duties.
  • Ability to initiate action independently as needed with planning & organizing abilities leading to effective recommendations and decision making.
  • Bachelor's degree OR Equivalent combination of formal education and experience.
  • 5 years of customer contact experience with demonstrated experience in marketing or relationship/account management.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record based on driving requirements for the position.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in business, marketing, communication, engineering, or related field.
  • 10 years of experience in sales, marketing, customer service, or technical field related to utility/energy operations.
  • Experience in communication and negotiation.

Responsibilities
