Christmas Kettle Worker

The Salvation Army Southern California•Newport, OR
•Onsite

About The Position

The Kettle Worker rings bells at assigned locations as part of The Salvation Army’s Christmas fundraising efforts. As the first point of public contact for the fundraising campaign, the worker is expected to provide excellent customer service and interact with the public in a courteous, friendly, and professional manner. The role includes greeting donors, collecting monetary donations, answering questions or directing people to an appropriate Salvation Army representative, and following instructions while working independently. This is a seasonal position with various and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Workers may be required to stand or sit outdoors for extended periods in changing weather and in environments with noise, dust, dirt, interruptions, and contact with people who may be angry, hostile, confused, or frustrated. Workers must keep the kettle attended except during authorized breaks at a secure location, wear Salvation Army-provided identification and any required clothing, and complete a daily time card. A criminal history information check is required; a conviction does not automatically preclude employment.
