About The Position

Great Hearts Academies is seeking passionate, life-long learners to join their growing network of 49 public, open-enrollment, tuition-free classical schools. They are dedicated to providing K-12 students with a high-quality, classical liberal arts education, aiming to develop intellectually and morally good individuals. This role is for a K-5 Math Interventionist at the Great Hearts Northern Oaks Lower School in San Antonio, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in math, education, or related field required.
  • 3 years of experience teaching students in mathematics in a K-12 school setting.
  • Proven track record of instructing diverse learners, including English Language Learners and Special Education students, in the area of mathematics.
  • Experience and training in administering assessments and analyzing data to drive instruction.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Detailed-oriented with strong organization and time management skills.
  • US Work Authorization is required.
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance in accordance with state requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Algebra I and Algebra II preferred for upper school positions.

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct instruction to students identified as eligible for math services in 1:1 and/or small group settings.
  • Develops a student-centered system of intervention that effectively works to close the achievement gap in mathematics.
  • Ensures that students master grade level standards and curriculum.
  • Creates a classroom environment and research-based program of study that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of scientifically based mathematics instruction.
  • Uses a variety of manipulatives and hands-on activities to support content standards and meet the needs and capabilities of students.
  • Effectively analyzes/uses data and conducts student assessments to identify those eligible for intervention services, plan instruction, and assist staff members in learning various assessment techniques.
  • Identifies student needs and data to guide the learning process toward achievement of district’s math content standards.
  • Monitors and assesses student progress on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
  • Understands how to use technology for instructional planning, i.e. creating reports and using data to plan lessons.
  • Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units and projects using formal and informal assessment data.
  • Communicates and collaborates with classroom teachers to ensure alignment between classroom instruction and interventions.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.
