About The Position

St. Mary’s Catholic High School is seeking a JV Girls Head Softball Coach for the 2027 season. The coach leads and develops the JV girls’ softball program in line with the varsity head coach’s vision, fostering athletic excellence, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship. The coach provides instruction in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical preparation to help student-athletes maximize their potential and achieve individual and team success.

The position emphasizes developing the whole student-athlete, including faith formation, character development, academic achievement, service, and personal responsibility. The coach is expected to model the school’s mission and values and to build a program culture grounded in integrity, accountability, respect, and the pursuit of excellence on and off the field.

Requirements

• Completion of Safe Environment Training through the Diocese of Phoenix.
• Completion of all required NFHS coaching courses.
• Current CPR and First Aid Certification.
• Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.
• Must be a certified teacher or hold current NFHS coaching certification.
• Demonstrated leadership ability, coaching experience, and softball knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the JV girls’ softball program in line with the varsity head coach’s vision.
• Foster athletic excellence, teamwork, discipline, leadership, and sportsmanship.
• Instruct student-athletes in fundamental softball skills, strategy, and physical preparation.
• Help student-athletes maximize their potential and achieve individual and team success.
• Promote the development of the whole student-athlete, emphasizing faith formation, character development, academic achievement, service, and personal responsibility.
• Evaluate, develop, and mentor student-athletes.
• Model the school’s mission and values and build a program culture rooted in integrity, accountability, respect, and excellence on and off the field.
