About The Position

St. Frances Cabrini Catholic High School is seeking a passionate, faith-filled, and dedicated Head Girls Junior Varsity Basketball Coach. The coach will support the Head Girls Varsity Coach in developing student-athletes on and off the court, fostering athletic excellence, teamwork, sportsmanship, leadership, and personal character in alignment with the school's mission and values. The role helps build a competitive, positive basketball program and mentors student-athletes in their athletic, academic, social, and spiritual development.

Requirements

Previous basketball coaching or playing experience.
Strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, offensive and defensive strategies, and player development.
Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with the Head Coach and athletic department staff.
Passion for mentoring high school student-athletes and helping them succeed on and off the court.
Complete Protecting God's Children training through the Archdiocese of Detroit, or have already completed it.
Submit to a background check and fingerprinting.
Complete all required MHSAA and CHSL coaching certifications, including CAP courses.
Maintain compliance with all school, league, and state athletic requirements.
Commitment to modeling strong character, sportsmanship, and Christian values.

Responsibilities

Plan and lead team practices, conditioning sessions, and game strategies.
Support the organization and execution of games, tournaments, team travel, and offseason workouts.
Provide individualized instruction to develop players' basketball fundamentals, skills, and basketball IQ.
Assist in evaluating player performance and provide constructive feedback to support continued development.
Analyze team performance through statistics and film review to improve practice and game strategies.
Promote discipline, accountability, teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
Assist with game-day responsibilities, including equipment setup, warmups, bench management, and in-game coaching.
Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and team events.
Help maintain equipment, uniforms, and inventory, and ensure facilities are clean and organized.
Collaborate with the Varsity Head Coach, athletic department, parents, and school staff to promote a positive experience for student-athletes.
Represent Cabrini Catholic High School with professionalism and integrity while supporting the school's mission.
Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to continue growing as a coach.
