JV Assistant Girls Basketball Coach - Anticipated
About The Position
Lake Forest High School is seeking an anticipated JV Assistant Girls Basketball Coach. Under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach, the coach assists the Head Coach in organizing, coordinating, and promoting quality coaching while carrying out the LFHS mission and Athletic Department philosophy. The role provides effective instruction and assists with program management, supports a positive learning environment for student-athletes, and prioritizes educational-based athletics. The coach supervises girls participating in the LFHS basketball program and serves as an ethical, professional, and positive role model.
Requirements
- For an IHSA sport, hold a current Illinois Teaching Certificate registered in Lake County, an ASEP (American Sport Education Program) certificate, or have completed an approved National Federation of High Schools (NFHS) coaching certification program.
- Maintain current AED/CPR certification.
- Meet all IHSA coaching certification annual requirements.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Head Coach with organizing, coordinating, and promoting quality coaching under the direction of the Varsity Head Coach.
- Provide effective instruction and assist with program management.
- Demonstrate leadership that supports a positive learning environment for student-athletes and emphasizes educational-based athletics.
- Supervise and oversee girls participating in the LFHS basketball program.
- Create, support, and manage meaningful experiences for student-athletes.
- Make rational, sound decisions under stressful conditions.
- Communicate effectively, professionally, and transparently with parents, staff, and students.
- Communicate and enforce clear expectations for athlete conduct and accountability.
- Actively supervise student-athletes during team events and transit to proactively maintain a safe and respectful environment.
- Operate within school policies and implement district regulations.
- Abide by the LFHS Athletic Code of Conduct.
- Demonstrate a high degree of ethics and professionalism and serve as a positive role model for student-athletes.
