About The Position

Caprock Academy is seeking a Girls Basketball Assistant Coach. Caprock Academy is a public, tuition-free school chartered by the Colorado Charter School Institute. It uses a classical education approach and the Core Knowledge curriculum in grades K–8, with a mission to support students’ academic and character development in a safe environment.

The assistant coach supports student athletes throughout the high school basketball season, including their academic needs, and assists with coaching and supervision at each program level. The role also includes communicating with coaches, school staff, athletes, families, and the community; supporting program activities and off-season tasks; and following school, league, district, and CHSAA policies.

Requirements

• Knowledge of all aspects of the skills involved with basketball.
• Strong communication and organizational skills, including the ability to mediate arguments and give constructive criticism.
• Have, or have the ability to obtain, certification through CHSAA.
• Excellent goal-setting and team-building skills.

• Previous varsity or collegiate coaching or playing experience.
• Demonstrated success in program growth and student athlete success.

Responsibilities

• Support student athletes as a whole and assist with academic needs throughout the season.
• Supervise and coach student athletes at each level of the program for the duration of the high school season.
• Report to the Head Coach and Athletic Director.
• Communicate with the Head Coach, Athletic Director, and Athletic Operations Coordinator about student athlete needs, incidents, and program concerns.
• Follow Family Handbook and Athletics and Activities Handbook guidelines concerning eligibility, prioritizing academics, partnering with families, communicating tactfully, and setting a strong example.
• Assist in developing schedules, fundraisers, camps, awards banquets, and off-season tasks.
• Direct and supervise instructional and conditioning camps throughout the year.
• Communicate proactively with coaching staff, athletes, parents, and the community.
• Assist student athletes with information concerning scholarships, financial aid, and college recruitment.
• Follow school, league, district, and CHSAA policies and regulations.
• Maintain professional and courteous relations with the community on behalf of Caprock Academy.
