About The Position

As a Juvenile Corrections Security Officer - Credential Desk in Columbia, SC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Access Control Officer in a government location, you will help manage entry points, verify badges and credentials, and support a professional, respectful experience for staff and visitors. You may also conduct routine patrols and respond to security-related concerns while staying visible to help discourage incidents. Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license is required in the state where the job is located.
  • At least 6 months of security-related experience is required.
  • You must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Access control and badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, and authorized personnel by carrying out site-specific access control procedures, government location policies, and/or emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Monitor entry and exit points, verify identification and credentials, screen visitors, and maintain required logs and documentation for restricted and/or controlled areas.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating concerns through proper channels and supporting site personnel as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location and perimeter, observing for unusual activity, unsecured access points, and other conditions that may require security-related attention.
  • Help to deter unauthorized access by enforcing post orders, following established check-in and property control procedures, and reporting policy violations and/or suspicious behavior.
