About The Position

Under general supervision performs specialized office work of moderate difficulty; performs related work as assigned. This position is not exempt from overtime. Coconino County is an Equal Opportunity Employer. AmeriCorps, Peace Corps and other national service alumni are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in clerical work and one year experience in Justice Court environment; OR Associate's degree in a related field and two years of experience in clerical work and one year experience in Justice Court environment; OR Bachelor's degree in a related field and one year of experience in clerical work and one year experience in Justice Court environment; OR Any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Must pass fingerprint clearance.
  • Considerable knowledge of Justice Court terms and meanings
  • Considerable knowledge of Legal terminology, statutes and court procedures
  • Considerable knowledge of Office practices and procedures
  • Considerable knowledge of Rules and procedures of department, including state and federal law
  • Considerable knowledge of Word processing, spread sheets and other computer applications
  • Considerable knowledge of Business English, spelling and arithmetic
  • Skill in the operation and maintenance of a variety of office equipment
  • Skill in customer service
  • Skill in researching and problem solving
  • Skill in organizing and coordinating the efforts of court personnel
  • Ability to analyze legal documents and interpret statutory requirements
  • Ability to perform complex administrative functions with speed and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work under pressure in a dynamic environment with changing program demands and priorities
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public
  • Ability to work safely and support the culture of workplace safety
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to type and perform data entry accurately
  • Ability to prepare and maintain complex records and reports

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates specialized departmental function
  • Assists with the supervision, training, and evaluation of support personnel
  • Provides training to assigned staff
  • Receives, reviews, processes and distributes confidential and sensitive documents
  • Processes documents related to misdemeanor, felony, and civil cases
  • Prepares and maintains records and reports
  • Researches records and disburses information
  • Composes, formats and types correspondence, reports and other documents
  • Assists other agencies with information and explaining procedures
  • May prepare and maintain accounting and other records
  • May handle and account for cash in various amounts
