About The Position

We are hiring a Junior Policy Analyst Intern to join our Policy Unit at the Department of Fisheries and Aquaculture, and your fresh perspectives, ideas, and energy will contribute to change. Requirements

Graduated from a post-secondary institute, such as a university, community college or recognised trade school within the past three (3) years
Background in public administration, research, or other related background in policy / analysis
Experience drafting and completing communications
Experience conducting research and analysis
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and PowerPoint
Strong written and verbal communication capacities, including strong presentation skills
Experience developing relationships and building partnerships
Capacity to manage various tasks while maintaining task deadlines and multiple competing priorities

Responsibilities

Support the Manager and other policy and program staff in preparing briefing notes, data analysis, and materials to support submissions to senior leadership and Executive Council.
Have the opportunity to coordinate of the Department's contracts administration process.
Have the opportunity to network within the Province of Nova Scotia.
Have exposure to key files and processes will prepare the candidate for future roles in policy, strategy, and project management within Government.
