Junior Network Engineer
About The Position
Flagler Technologies is hiring a Junior Network Engineer for its Managed Services practice. The role supports and maintains network infrastructure across managed client environments, troubleshooting network issues, monitoring performance, assisting with changes and upgrades, and developing technical skills in collaboration with senior engineers. It is intended for someone building a networking career, with a development path toward a Senior Network Engineer position as technical competency, reliability, ownership, client communication, and ability to manage complex environments increase. The position is primarily performed during daytime business hours. Engineers are also expected to regularly participate in scheduled evening, overnight, and/or weekend maintenance. These activities are generally scheduled in advance, though critical vulnerabilities, zero-day remediation, or emergency network conditions may occasionally require work outside scheduled maintenance windows. The role offers opportunities to train and cross-train across networking technologies and vendor platforms, participate in knowledge transfer with Senior Network Engineers, and gain exposure to increasingly complex environments. Engineers are expected to document and share knowledge, pursue relevant technical training and certifications, and expand their capabilities across vendors and technologies. The job is listed for Boca Raton, Florida, or nationwide remote or hybrid work. Devices used to access company resources for work must be managed by the company. A company computer and peripherals are provided; the employee needs a personal cell phone for multi-factor authentication and a reliable internet connection, for which a stipend is provided.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in network engineering, network administration, or a similar networking-focused position.
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals and ability to troubleshoot real-world network issues.
- Experience or working knowledge of switching and routing fundamentals.
- Experience or working knowledge of VLANs, STP, IPsec, HSRP/VRRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11 wireless, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and QoS.
- Knowledge of OSI and TCP/IP models.
- Experience or working knowledge of enterprise switches, routers, wireless infrastructure, and firewalls.
- Network troubleshooting experience involving connectivity, routing, switching, performance, and infrastructure issues.
- Experience or working knowledge of network monitoring, diagnostic, configuration management, and traffic analysis tools.
- Experience or working knowledge of network firmware and software upgrades and production network changes and maintenance activities.
- Ability to develop and follow implementation, testing, validation, and rollback procedures.
- Ability to maintain configuration backups and recovery procedures.
- Ability to create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and network diagrams.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; clear written and verbal communication; ability to manage multiple priorities and recognize when to escalate issues.
- Comfort working in an MSP environment supporting multiple clients, network architectures, vendors, and management platforms.
- Comfort with regularly scheduled evening, overnight, and/or weekend maintenance and occasional work during emergency network conditions.
- Personal cell phone for multi-factor authentication and a reliable internet connection.

Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot switching, routing, wireless, firewall, VPN, and connectivity issues.
- Monitor network health, performance, and availability.
- Assist with network changes, firmware upgrades, and scheduled maintenance.
- Maintain accurate technical documentation.
- Collaborate with senior engineers, clients, and vendors.
- Participate in scheduled evening, overnight, and/or weekend maintenance activities.
- Document and share newly acquired knowledge and pursue relevant technical training and certifications.
