About The Position

Parsons is seeking a Junior Environmental Professional / Project Information Specialist to join their team in Langley, BC. This hybrid role involves supporting environmental project delivery and managing environmental data, systems, tools, and workflows. The successful candidate will collaborate with project managers, technical staff, and stakeholders across multiple projects. The role is split approximately 50% between environmental project support and 50% on data stewardship and system support.

Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in earth sciences, civil, environmental, chemical, or geological engineering, or a similar program. Candidates with degrees in related science programs will also be considered.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Maturity in interaction and ability to operate self-sufficiently in the office.
  • Demonstrates the values of safety, teamwork, service, integrity, and accountability.
  • A valid driver’s license.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience conducting site assessment, remediation, and technical reporting would be an asset.
  • Experience with environmental data entry, QA/QC, and data management would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with environmental data management systems such as EQuIS, SiteCrest, OpenGround, and gINT, GIS platforms such as ArcGIS, and data collection systems such as Forms On Fire will be considered an asset.
  • Experience with SharePoint and collaboration/document management platforms will be considered an asset.
  • Exposure to coding, scripting, or macro development for process automation, particularly using Microsoft Excel, VBA, or similar tools, will be considered an asset.
  • Preference may be given to local candidates in the Langley area.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with coordination of site monitoring, investigation, and remediation projects, principally at active and vacant petroleum- and chemical-handling and storage properties.
  • Support project planning activities, including development of scopes of work, cost estimates, project plans, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Work with project teams, including field personnel, project coordinators, project managers, drafters, and administrative staff, to help ensure project tasks are completed on time and within budget.
  • Perform data entry and QA/QC for soil, groundwater, and vapour data.
  • Prepare do-lists, health and safety plans, technical reports, memoranda, and other project documentation.
  • Support field work at local and remote sites, as required, including soil sampling, groundwater monitoring, and supervision of drillers and other contractors.
  • Steward environmental data through receipt, validation, approval, storage, retrieval, and archiving.
  • Support the administration and maintenance of environmental data management systems, GIS platforms, and data collection systems, including EQuIS, SiteCrest, OpenGround, gINT, Surfer, ArcGIS, and Forms On Fire/Appenate.
  • Perform QA/QC review of field, laboratory, and project data to ensure accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance templates, logs, macros, and other workflow tools that support environmental data management and reporting.
  • Implement updates to systems and workflows to reflect regulatory, client, and internal process changes, in consultation with senior professionals.
  • Prepare data summaries, tables, figures, and related outputs to support project delivery, reporting, and information exchange.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
