About The Position

Every report, process, and insight you contribute supports the delivery of high-quality care for individuals with complex needs. Our finance team plays a critical role in ensuring resources are managed responsibly so our frontline teams can continue delivering exceptional, life-changing services. Someone who is ready to take the next step in their accounting career. This role is designed as a developmental pathway toward a Controller position, offering hands-on experience across both operational and strategic finance. Working closely with the other members of our finance team and senior leadership, you will oversee the entire day-to-day financial operations and other owned sub-entities, contributing financial accuracy, accountability, and sustainability across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
  • CPA designation is required
  • 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Demonstrated ability in month-end close and financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting
  • Strong skills in Excel
  • Expertise in financial analysis
  • Experience with accounting systems (Ex: Quick Books & Dext)
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Background in the Human Services sector is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with government funding environments is an asset
  • Exposure to retail banking and/or private loan management is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to “lead by example”, support or mentor others is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Create and present the monthly and quarterly financial statements
  • Assist with annual financial statements
  • Lead in analyzing financial results, including budget vs. actual variances
  • Prepare financial reports and insights for senior leadership
  • Support and oversee general ledger activities, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Contribute to maintaining accurate and complete financial records
  • Oversees AP, AR, and payroll processes, stepping in as needed
  • Perform bank reconciliations, government filings (Ex: GST), and other routine accounting functions
  • Record transactions across multiple entities, as applicable
  • Help maintain and strengthen internal financial control processes
  • Ensure compliance with Canadian accounting standards, internal policies, and regulatory requirements
  • Support year-end activities, including audit preparation and documentation
  • Contribute to responsible financial stewardship aligned with Service Delivery and funding requirements
  • Support the annual budgeting process
  • Oversee and adjust monthly, quarterly, and annual forecasting model process
  • Support departmental budget tracking and provide insights
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, scalability, and data-driven decision-making in our accounting processes
  • Champion automation, implementation, and optimization as part of ongoing modernization of finance processes and systems
