About The Position

Boyd’s Tire & Service has provided automotive products and services in Central Ohio since 1996, with locations in Columbus, Blacklick, Hilliard, Lewis Center, Marysville, and elsewhere in Central Ohio. The Junior Automotive Technician diagnoses and repairs customer vehicles effectively and efficiently while following MAP guidelines, dealership and manufacturer requirements, and Boyd’s Tire standards.

Compensation varies from $20–$25 per hour plus flag rate, depending on experience. The position includes diagnosing vehicles according to the technician’s certifications and experience; completing inspection and repair-order work accurately and efficiently; explaining diagnoses and repairs to non-mechanical individuals; documenting recommended services; following safety procedures; and maintaining applicable ASE certifications.

Requirements

• Prefer at least one unexpired ASE certification or equivalent experience or training.
• Possess a valid driver’s license or obtain one within 30 days of hire.
• Ability to work a minimum of five days, including Saturdays.
• Ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Report screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose vehicles according to the appropriate level of certifications and experience.
• Perform work outlined on the Multi-point Inspection and/or Repair Order efficiently and accurately.
• Explain technical diagnoses and needed repairs to non-mechanical individuals, including the Store Manager, Service Consultants, and/or customers.
• Recommend services needed to keep customers’ vehicles in running condition and document recommendations in customer files.
• Follow safety procedures and report concerns to the Shop Foreman or Store Manager.
• Maintain appropriate ASE certifications and renew expiring certifications.
