About The Position

The Junior Accountant is an early career, high‑potential accounting professional who plays an important role in keeping EnerStar’s financial operations running smoothly. This position is ideal for a recent graduate or emerging professional who is pursuing, or planning to pursue, their CPA designation and wants exposure to a broad range of corporate accounting activities. In this role, you’ll work closely with experienced accounting leaders, gain practical month‑end and reconciliation experience, support payroll and reporting processes, and continuously build your skills. This is a growth minded position designed for someone who’s eager to learn, contribute, and progress their accounting career.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field is required
  • 1 to 3 years of accounting or related experience; including internships or co-op experience
  • Solid foundation in core accounting principles and GAAP, with enthusiasm to continue learning.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and motivated to build advanced skills.
  • Exposure to accounting software (QuickBooks preferred) with interest in expanding system knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail with pride in producing accurate, high‑quality work.
  • Analytical and curious mindset. You like understanding the “why” behind the numbers.
  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Growth oriented attitude with eagerness to learn, take initiative, and build a long‑term career.
  • Collaborative team player who values mentorship, feedback, and shared success.

Responsibilities

  • Work Safely or not at all. Value and follow all safe work practices, company policies, and client worksite regulations.
  • Champion EnerStar Core Values in everything you do.
  • Support the CFO, Director, Controller, and Senior Accountant with day‑to‑day accounting activities.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, including bank, prepaid, accrual, and other general ledger accounts.
  • Assist with month‑end close activities, including journal entries and supporting schedules.
  • Prepare and record routine revenue and expense accruals.
  • Maintain organized and accurate supporting documentation for financial records and audits.
  • Provide backup support to Payroll, including payroll reconciliations and reporting assistance.
  • Assist with maintaining capital asset and inventory records.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis by gathering and organizing financial data.
  • Participate in process improvements, documentation updates, and automation initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to gather information and support financial accuracy.
  • Stay current with accounting standards, internal controls, and company policies.
  • Take on additional responsibilities and learning opportunities as assigned.
  • Travel: Limited travel may be required based on business needs.
