About The Position

The Junior Accountant provides foundational accounting support for the finance team at Atira Women’s Resource Society and its affiliated entities. This role assists with day-to-day accounting activities including transaction processing, rent revenue tracking for residential programs, reconciliations, and maintaining accurate financial records. The Junior Accountant works under the guidance of the Intermediate Accountant to ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions and support financial reporting requirements.

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Minimum two (2) years of accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • Technologically literate including proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and comfort working with digital systems and electronic documents in a fast‑paced office environment
  • Experience with accounting software
  • Covid-19 (including booster) & flu vaccinations are recommended
  • Subject to a criminal records review
  • Requires union membership (BC Government Employee’s Union (BCGEU))

  • Hiring preference will be given to First Nations, Métis, and Inuk women for programs specifically serving First Nations, Métis, and Inuk women and children
  • Lived experience and a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and ways of being for programs providing services to Indigenous women and children
