About The Position

The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting and finance activities of the organization while developing a broad understanding of the Company’s financial operations. This role serves as a cross-training position within the Accounting and Finance department, providing hands-on experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense reporting, account reconciliations, customer billing, collections, cash management, and month-end close activities. The Junior Accountant will work closely with the Senior Accountants, Finance Operations Coordinator, VP of Finance & IT, and other business departments to ensure accurate financial records, timely processing of transactions, and adherence to internal controls. This position is designed to build foundational accounting knowledge and prepare the employee for future advancement within the Finance organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business field preferred.
  • Associate degree with relevant accounting experience will be considered.
  • 0-2 years of accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or related experience.
  • Internship experience in accounting or finance is a plus.
  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend written, electronic, and spoken instructions, memos, and correspondence, and to communicate professionally in English both verbally by phone and electronically.
  • Ability to actively listen to customer needs and respond with appropriate product proposals to meet demands.
  • Ability to effectively present and cross functionally communicate information in one-on-one, large, and small group situations to customers, clients, or other employees.
  • Ability to perform, compute mathematical operations with a calculator, and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to perform, compute mathematical operations, and apply concepts such as money, weight, volume, and distance to create and interpret graphs.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles and financial reporting concepts.
  • Ability to work independently to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to develop positive customer relationships and respond to inquiries or complaints from customers in a proactive manner.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instruction in mathematical or diagram form, deal with several abstract and concrete variables, and analyze results from comparison and other sensory tests.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with ERP systems, expense management software, or financial reporting tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge of SAP Concur & SAP Intacct is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate accounts payable processing and vendor invoice management, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and timely resolution of vendor issues.
  • Review employee expense reports for completeness, supporting documentation, policy compliance, and proper account coding.
  • Serve as a resource to employees on expense reporting procedures, system usage, and documentation requirements.
  • Investigate vendor inquiries and assist in resolving billing discrepancies and payment issues.
  • Maintain complete, accurate, and well-organized accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Generate and distribute customer invoices for shipped orders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitor customer billing activity and customer portal requirements to support accurate and timely invoicing.
  • Research and verify freight, customer charges, and other billable items to ensure invoices are complete and accurate.
  • Support customer collections efforts, including follow-up on outstanding invoices and payment status.
  • Prepare and process credit memos in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitor accounts receivable balances and support accurate recording of customer transactions.
  • Prepare and post routine journal entries under the guidance of senior accounting team members.
  • Perform account reconciliations, including cash and selected balance sheet accounts, to support accurate financial reporting.
  • Maintain fixed asset and inventory-related accounting records, including additions, disposals, and supporting documentation.
  • Support month-end and year-end close activities, including preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and related documentation.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and financial schedules in accordance with company procedures and internal controls.
  • Prepare reports, analyses, and account detail as requested by management to support business and financial decision-making.
  • Assist with processing cash receipts, bank deposits, and related documentation.
  • Support the annual audit process by gathering requested schedules, records, and supporting documentation.
  • Follow internal control procedures and maintain confidentiality of financial information.
  • Work with cross-functional departments to support process improvements and accurate financial reporting.
  • Develop practical experience across core accounting functions to build a strong foundation in Finance operations.
  • Build proficiency in accounting systems, expense management tools, and reporting platforms used to process transactions, maintain records, and support reporting.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives and special projects focused on accuracy, efficiency, and stronger internal controls.
  • Support Senior Accountants and Finance leadership with additional accounting, reporting, and departmental responsibilities as assigned.
