About The Position

Vertex is currently accepting applications for one full-time, permanent Junior Accountant in Sherwood Park, AB location. The successful candidate will provide financial expertise and support to the Senior Accountant and Controller; playing a key role in overseeing all reports, financial functions and process improvement opportunities.

Requirements

• Diploma, certificate, or higher education in accounting, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience.
• Significant work background involving data, entries to software and spreadsheets, preparation and compilation of numbers and documents, and variability in procedures.
• Comfortable with Accounting software and MS Suite, especially in Word and Excel
• Careful attention to detail and ability to work with high volumes of data is essential
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
• Highly organized and self-motivated
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of financial, operational and cost reporting and analysis considered an asset
• Experience in Maestro software is an asset

Responsibilities

• Fuel card entries, reconciliation and accruals
• PO reconciliation, entries and accruals
• Identify, reconcile, and compile contractor amounts for statement purposes.
• Various accounting and administrative functions assigned
• Prepare monthly reconciliation of various General Ledger accounts
• Prepare and review monthly journal entries for accuracy
• Prepare various, monthly, quarterly and year-end schedules
• Assist in the preparation of information for management reports
• Perform general accounting, office, and other related duties as required
