About The Position

The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking innovative and customer-focused candidates to join the Superior Court Clerk's Office. Under the direction of the Clerk of the Superior Court or other supervisory personnel, the selected candidates will perform a variety of clerical, administrative, and supportive tasks in connection with documents and records maintained by the Superior Court Clerk's Office. Candidates interested in applying for this position may be assigned to any of the teams in the Clerk's Office, including foreclosure, judgment, records, and customer access. The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule, and this position may qualify for up to 2 days of remote work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, in addition to installing a multifactor authentication app on your phone or tablet, you will be required to have high speed home internet access.

Requirements

  • One year of experience performing a variety of clerical and support services to include keyboarding and one or more of the following: document or information processing, handling payments for fees, recording monies received, reconciling balances or accounts and/or scheduling meetings or appointments.
  • Ability to use a keyboard, no minimum speed.
  • Candidates selected to serve in a bilingual variant title must pass the New Jersey Civil Service Commission Bilingual Communicative Ability Test (BICAT) performance examination or provide proof of having established bilingual proficiency with the New Jersey Civil Service Commission.

Nice To Haves

  • For some positions, applicants must have the ability to perform work which requires climbing and prolonged standing, stretching, bending and reaching to perform the essential duties of the position.
  • For some positions, the selected candidate must be able to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing from 30 to 50 pounds and, occasionally, materials weighing up to 75 pounds, in order to perform essential duties of the position.
  • Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license valid in New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Responsibilities

  • Collect fees or costs as directed by the court
  • Code information or documents for entry into computer terminal
  • Verify the authenticity or validity of documents or archived records
  • Compose non-routine correspondence
  • Answer inquiries from the public, attorneys or vicinage staff
  • Explain judiciary policies or procedures to clients or customers
  • Sort mail, cards, letters, forms, or other documents
  • Other duties as required
  • The above examples of work are to be performed by utilizing Spanish or English, as required, depending on the needs of the individual persons communicated with during the course of official duties. Such examples do not require an individual to interpret or translate any court proceeding or in any other context.
