About The Position

ONEX River is seeking Journeyman & Apprentices Pipefitters for various sites in the Fort Saskatchewan area, AB. The successful candidate will report to the site supervisor. This role involves strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on quality, calculating weight of materials, reading and interpreting construction fabrication drawings, measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, bending, assembling, and installing piping, valves, and fittings. Responsibilities also include joining pipe sections, using testing equipment for leaks, complying with safety policies, operating machine tools, cleaning and lubricating machinery, and assembling machinery and equipment. The role requires receptiveness to working with short notice for call outs, nights, and overtime upon client request.

Requirements

  • Journeyperson or Registered Apprentice Certificate.
  • CSTS 2020
  • WHMIS 2015
  • ESC H2S Alive
  • Able to work well in a team environment.
  • Organized and self-motivated.
  • Must be capable of physical labour.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to meet quality standards.
  • Knowledge and experience of industry related safe work practices.
  • Previous industrial experience considered is required.

Responsibilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude with a focus on quality.
  • Calculating weight of materials and/or spools to ensure proper equipment is used.
  • Reading and interpreting client and company-supplied construction fabrication drawings and specifications.
  • Measuring, cutting, threading, grooving, bending, and assembling and installing piping, valves, and fittings.
  • Joining pipe sections/related equipment and securing position.
  • Using testing equipment to check systems for leaks.
  • Complying with ONEC’s and client safety policies and procedures.
  • Must be receptive to working with short notice for call outs, nights, and overtime upon client request.
  • Operating machine tools such as lathes and grinders to fabricate parts required during overhaul, maintenance, or set-up of machinery.
  • Cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work on machinery.
  • Assembling machinery and equipment prior to installation using hand and power tools and welding equipment.
