About The Position

The Employment Specialist helps individuals with disabilities find and maintain inclusive, competitive employment. The role supports job seekers through coaching, training, and on-the-job guidance, and collaborates with employers to promote lasting success and inclusive workplaces. The position includes teaching new skills, motivating individuals, building employer partnerships, and supporting employees as they work toward job expectations. This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position based in Canandaigua, New York. The usual schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., with flexibility required to meet agency needs. The salary range is $19.67–$20.95. A $750 sign-on bonus is paid in two installments: half at 90 days and half at 180 days.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
High school diploma or GED required.
Two years of experience providing employment-related services to individuals with developmental disabilities required.
Valid New York State driver's license.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with disabilities in seeking and maintaining gainful employment, including job searching and completing applications as requested.
Teach skills and assist individuals in acquiring new or additional skills.
Provide one-on-one or small-group instruction and guidance in varied environments, working toward formal outcomes associated with an individual's Habilitation Plan.
At job sites, assist with initial training and setting up assigned work as directed by the site supervisor.
Ensure employees progress toward meeting job expectations.
Suggest further breakdown of tasks when needed to support achievable outcomes.
