About The Position

The Janitorial Services Aide performs janitorial services, miscellaneous jobs, and general services work orders; moves and delivers supplies; and assists with event setup and takedown. The position maintains the overall cleanliness of Winterthur’s facilities and helps ensure guest and staff satisfaction through clean facilities. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday with rotating weekends, for 40 hours per week. Compensation is $17.00 per hour.

Requirements

• At least two years of janitorial experience with a high school diploma/GED, or equivalent years of experience.
• Knowledge of housekeeping operational procedures.
• Knowledge of basic sanitation requirements and controls, and applications of relevant cleaning chemicals.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools.
• Basic knowledge of carpet-cleaning procedures.
• Ability to assess situations and take initiative to proactively resolve and prevent issues.
• Ability to bend, stretch, reach, and move at a fast pace.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to climb up to nine flights of stairs.
• Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of eight hours or more.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in the hospitality or cultural institution industries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general indoor appearance of buildings.
• Collect trash from offices, restrooms, and lobbies.
• Vacuum and perform carpet-cleaning services; mop floors in restrooms, stairwells, and lobbies; and dust and wipe furniture and vents.
• Operate a vacuum, shampooer, and buffer; safely mix and use cleaning solutions and store them in a secure area.
• Disinfect and sanitize employee workspaces and public-facing areas according to applicable guidelines for preventing the spread of infectious diseases.
• Complete assigned work orders, such as setting up conference rooms for training.
• Move and deliver supplies, including toilet paper, cups, and plates.
• Set up and take down events, including arranging tables and small trash receptacles.
