About The Position

The Janitor maintains cleanliness and order throughout the building, including floors, windows, mirrors, restrooms, elevators, stairs, and canteen areas. The role includes removing waste, replenishing cleaning and maintenance supplies, maintaining a chart of cleaned and inspected areas, organizing janitorial storage, and notifying supervisors about unsafe conditions or needed repairs. The position is full-time and day shift in Charleston, South Carolina. The schedule may be flexible, with potential for additional hours covering full-time staff.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to observe safety and security procedures and comply with policies.
• Ability to read and interpret written information, write clear statements, and communicate orally.
• Ability to perform physical work and operate power equipment normally used in janitorial operations.
• Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
• Ability to follow schedules, keep commitments, and follow directions from a supervisor.
• Professionalism and good communication skills.
• Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently as well as within a team.
• Ability to work independently and efficiently within assigned hours.
• Ability to pass a background check, including a government background check.
• Physical capability to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

• Previous janitorial or cleaning experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum building floors.
• Clean windows and mirrors.
• Clean and supply restrooms.
• Clean elevators, stairs, and canteen areas.
• Remove waste and empty trash.
• Maintain a cleaning chart showing areas cleaned and inspected.
• Replenish cleaning and maintenance supplies.
• Organize janitorial storage areas.
• Notify supervisors about unsafe conditions or needed repairs or maintenance.
