About The Position

Keep buildings clean and orderly by performing heavy cleaning duties, including cleaning floors, hallways, and stairs; shampooing rugs; and washing walls and glass. Duties may also include tending furnaces and boilers, performing routine maintenance, notifying management when repairs are needed, and clearing snow or debris from sidewalks. The position works under immediate supervision, follows instructions and established guidelines, and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
Previous years of experience in the field or a related area may be required; no specific number of years is stated.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
Ability to follow instructions and pre-established guidelines.
Physical requirements include standing 50% of the time, walking 30%, and sitting 20%; lifting up to 50 lb, carrying up to 50 lb, pushing at 70 ft-lb, and pulling at 70 ft-lb.
Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling are occasionally required; reaching is constant, handling is constant, and fingering is frequent.

Responsibilities

Monitor building security and safety, including locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use for hazards.
Service, clean, and supply restrooms.
Gather and empty trash.
Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum building floors.
Follow procedures for using chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
Mix water and detergents or acids to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications.
Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
Notify managers about the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems.
Requisition supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties.
Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
Observe and comply with safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
Perform other duties as required.
