About The Position

The Janitor plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, clean, and hygienic environment across multiple Alamance Foods facilities. This role supports production, office, and common areas by performing sanitation and janitorial duties in compliance with IFS standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Food Safety policies, and company Safety programs.

Requirements

  • Prior janitorial or sanitation experience required.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred, especially with GMPs, IFS, or HACCP standards.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to complete tasks within designated timeframes.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. or more.
  • Work in various environments including production areas with temperature fluctuations, noise, and heavy machinery.
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required (hearing protection, safety glasses, etc.).
  • Occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily janitorial tasks including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal.
  • Maintain cleanliness in production areas, offices, restrooms, breakrooms, and designated smoking areas.
  • Perform deep cleaning and sanitizing of racking and equipment as required, especially in preparation for audits.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals; restock as needed.
  • Adhere to all company Safety Policies, GMPs, and Food Safety requirements.
  • Report equipment malfunctions and facility issues promptly to the Sanitation Manager.
  • Maintain and store cleaning tools and chemicals in accordance with company procedures.
  • Support facility upgrades or special projects as directed by management.
  • Follow all Food Defense and site Security procedures.
