About The Position

Under general supervision, the Janitor performs routine cleaning duties in the Authority's buildings and general grounds. Duties include cleaning floors, washing walls and windows, and removing trash. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Requirements

• Good knowledge of English, spelling, and arithmetic.
• Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
• Ability to read and write legibly.
• Ability to plan work and carry it through to completion without close supervision.
• Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and the general public.
• High degree of initiative and dependability.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two years of experience in custodial work.

Responsibilities

• Sweeps, mops, and scrubs offices, stairs, and bathrooms.
• Empties waste paper baskets and trash containers.
• Ensures that there is an adequate supply of drinking water for office personnel.
• May secure the office at closing time.
• Operates janitorial equipment and tools.
