About The Position
This position is for an evening shift Janitor at a VA medical facility in Pittsburgh, PA. The role involves cleaning and maintaining assigned areas and washrooms to an orderly condition. Duties include sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and polishing floors, removing chips, trash, and other refuse, dusting equipment and furniture, polishing metal fixtures, providing supplies, and performing minor maintenance services. Specific cleaning tasks include detailed sanitization of lavatories, showers, and restrooms, as well as general cleaning of assigned areas, including floors, water fountains, doors, and walls.
Requirements
- MUST be able to pass a standard background check and be cleared to work in a VA Medical Facility
- Functions well around patients, staff and visitors in a clinical setting
- Proven experience as custodian, janitor or in a similar role
- Knowledge of use and maintenance of industrial cleaning equipment and appliances
- Knowledge of safe disposal of chemicals
- Attention to detail and conscientiousness
- Very good physical condition and strength

Responsibilities
- Clean and keep in an orderly condition assigned areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, VA medical facility, or other government establishment
- Sweep, mop or scrub, and polish floors
- Remove chips, trash, and other refuse
- Dust equipment, furniture, or fixtures
- Polish metal fixtures or trimmings
- Provide supplies and minor maintenance services
- Clean lavatories, showers, and restrooms
- Dust mop and damp mop floors in assigned areas
- Dust chairs in assigned areas
- Clean, disinfect and polish water fountain, front doors glass, frame and thresholds
- Spot clean walls, all doors, door frames, and areas around light switches and magazine racks
- Replace trash liners as required
- Perform sanitization cleaning of lavatories, all fixtures, floors, toilet seat & bowl (inside and out), mirrors, soap dispensers, trash cans in restrooms
- Clean underside of sinks and pipes, faucets, paper towel holders, walls, doorknobs, ledges and light switches in restrooms
- Refill all dispensers
- Dust mop and wet mop floors with disinfectant/detergent as stated in specifications
- Buff floors per schedule
