About The Position

The IT Technician is responsible for supporting and maintaining the cooperative’s technology infrastructure, ensuring reliable operation of systems essential to electric utility services. This role provides technical support to employees, assists with network and system administration, and helps maintain cybersecurity standards to support the cooperative’s mission of delivering safe, reliable, and affordable power.

Requirements

  • 0–3 years of IT support experience
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Experience with Windows operating systems and Microsoft 365
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Valid driver’s license (for travel between cooperative locations, if needed)

Nice To Haves

  • Associates’ degree in related field
  • Experience in a utility, cooperative, or industrial environment
  • Familiarity with SCADA, GIS, or outage management systems
  • IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, or similar)
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • Attention to detail and commitment to reliability
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies

Responsibilities

  • Provide helpdesk support to staff for hardware, software, and network issues
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals
  • Respond to service tickets in a timely and professional manner
  • Assist users with Microsoft 365, email systems, and business applications
  • Assist in maintaining servers, network equipment, and telecommunications systems
  • Monitor system performance and report issues or outages
  • Support backup systems and disaster recovery procedures
  • Help manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls
  • Provide support for utility-specific systems such as SCADA, outage management systems (OMS), GIS, or metering systems
  • Coordinate with vendors on system updates, installations, and troubleshooting
  • Assist with technology used in substations and field operations
  • Follow and help enforce cybersecurity policies and best practices
  • Assist with system updates, patching, and antivirus management
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable regulations (e.g., NERC CIP, if applicable)
  • Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and troubleshooting steps
  • Track hardware and software inventory
  • Assist with technology upgrades and projects
