About The Position

The purpose of this position is to provide end user support for employees using computers, printers, business related systems and the City’s network. This is accomplished by receiving and responding phone calls and emails; configuring desktops and workstations; working with end users to resolve issues; repairing hardware; installing printers. Other duties include doing occasional heavy lifting; implementing new systems when needed; working with vendors and management to ensure invoices and quotes are settled; and some diagnosing of end user issues.end users on how to operate company software and desktops.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in Computer Sciences required.
  • Over one year up to and including three years relative experience.
  • All persons who become employed by the City on or after the effective date of this section (May 18, 2022) shall be or become residents of York County or any county contiguous to York County (Adams, Cumberland, Dauphin, Lancaster, Hartford, Baltimore, and Carroll Counties), within six months form the first date the employee achieves permanent employment status.
  • Must pass a background check, Drug Test and provide a PA Child Abuse History Clearance Certificate.
  • Must provide State and Federal background clearances and Mandated Report Certification.
  • Child Abuse History Clearance must be dated within one year from the date of application and must show that "no record exists".

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences preferred.
  • Comp TIA A+, Net+, or Microsoft/Cisco Certification Equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provides end user technical support by taking phone calls and responding to emails concerning end user issues; providing technical assistance to end users; resolving PC, internet, network and printer issues while working with the end user; providing basic training to end users on how to operate company software and desktops.
  • Configures desktop PC's, laptops, and printers by installing operating systems and drivers as well as company specific programs and software; configuring network properties; installing network and personal printers; configuring and repairing hardware.
  • Deploys workstations and systems by taking computer systems and hardware to employee offices; installing the computer systems and connecting it to the network; testing and configuring to ensure functionality.
  • Draft and send out mass communication to end users on the behalf of the IT office; working with vendors and management to ensure invoices and quotes are settled; other duties as assigned.
