About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on IT Systems Administrator to support and administer the technology environment at our Chatsworth headquarters. This is a mid-level position for an IT professional with three to five years of recent hands-on experience who has developed strong technical fundamentals and is ready for broader responsibility in a manufacturing and engineering environment. The successful candidate will provide onsite user and infrastructure support; administer Microsoft systems and services; troubleshoot networks, servers, virtualization, hardware, and business applications; and work collaboratively with internal IT, Engineering, DevOps, our managed service provider, and specialized technology vendors. Canoga Perkins operates a diverse technology environment that includes modern cloud services as well as established and legacy systems supporting manufacturing, engineering, ERP, facilities, and day-to-day business operations.

Requirements

• Three to five years of recent hands-on professional IT experience required.
• Strong proficiency with Windows 10 and Windows 11.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft 365 productivity applications.
• Hands-on experience with Active Directory and Windows domain environments.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Exchange Online, and Microsoft cloud administration.
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, VPN, and network troubleshooting.
• Working understanding of virtualization, physical hosts, virtual machines, networking, and storage.
• Familiarity with Windows Server administration.
• Solid understanding of IT hardware including laptops, workstations, printers, servers, cabling, switches, routers, firewalls, and related equipment.
• Hardware and networking knowledge comparable to CompTIA A+ and Network+ fundamentals, whether gained through certification, education, or practical experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to technical and nontechnical users.
• Demonstrated ability to work professionally with users experiencing urgent or frustrating technical problems.
• Sound judgment and willingness to ask for assistance or escalate when appropriate.
• Strong documentation, organization, and follow-through skills.
• Ability to work independently after appropriate training and orientation.
• Ability and willingness to work onsite in Chatsworth five days per week.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with VMware environments; ESXi and/or vCenter experience preferred.
• Basic familiarity with Linux environments strongly preferred.
• Experience supporting IT in a manufacturing, engineering, telecommunications, or technology company.
• Familiarity with manufacturing or ERP systems and business processes.
• General understanding of manufacturing concepts such as Bill of Materials, work orders, inventory, planning, purchasing, purchase requisitions, purchase orders, production, shipping, and quality.
• Experience with VMware vCenter, Proxmox, Linux, Azure, Group Policy, SharePoint, Fortinet, VPN technologies, SAN/NAS storage, backup and disaster-recovery systems, RMM/endpoint-management platforms, MFA/SSO, and cybersecurity tools.
• Experience working with a managed service provider or coordinating specialized technology vendors.
• Experience supporting engineering, software-development, laboratory, manufacturing-floor, or other nontraditional IT environments.
• CompTIA, Microsoft, VMware, networking, security, cloud, or similar technical certifications.
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary onsite technical resource for employees at the Chatsworth facility.
• Respond to and troubleshoot user issues involving workstations, applications, accounts, printers, connectivity, phones, peripherals, and other business technology.
• Communicate effectively with users, understand the underlying need, and provide appropriate follow-through even when the issue requires escalation to another technical resource.
• Recognize when an issue can be resolved independently and when assistance is required from internal IT, the managed service provider, DevOps, Engineering, or a specialized vendor.
• Support and administer Windows 10 and Windows 11 workstations and Microsoft desktop applications.
• Perform routine administration and troubleshooting involving Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Outlook, SharePoint, authentication, permissions, user accounts, groups, and MFA.
• Assist with employee onboarding and offboarding, including accounts, permissions, equipment, software, and access requirements.
• Support Windows Server environments and common infrastructure services including DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file services, and print services.
• Troubleshoot TCP/IP networking, IP addressing, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, wireless connectivity, VPN, and related network services.
• Assist with switches, routers, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, network cabling, patching, WAN/ISP equipment, and other physical network infrastructure.
• Support virtualized server environments and understand the relationship between physical hosts, virtual machines, networking, and storage.
• Assist with VMware ESXi/vCenter and Proxmox environments.
• Provide support for Windows and Linux servers as appropriate to the role.
• Understand enterprise storage concepts including SAN, NAS, and direct-attached storage.
• Assist with server-room and wiring-closet equipment including servers, storage, switches, firewalls, UPS systems, cabling, and telecommunications equipment.
• Support laptops, desktops, printers, multifunction devices, label printers, phones, and other onsite technology.
• Assist with backup, disaster-recovery, endpoint-security, patching, monitoring, and infrastructure-continuity activities.
• Learn and support Canoga Perkins business and manufacturing systems, which may include QAD ERP, DocLib, FormTrap, CodeSoft, label-printing systems, production-floor computers, ESD systems, engineering applications, and other vendor-supported or legacy systems.
• Troubleshoot workstation, connectivity, access, printing, infrastructure, and related dependencies before escalating application-specific issues.
• Assist with hardware and software inventory, equipment deployment, replacement, warranty, retirement, and lifecycle tracking.
• Coordinate appropriately with MSP and vendor personnel and follow escalated issues through resolution.
• Maintain and improve technical documentation covering procedures, systems, configurations, dependencies, recurring issues, and escalation paths.
• Participate actively in structured training and knowledge transfer and progressively assume responsibility for recurring operational activities.
• Participate in infrastructure, networking, systems, security, business-application, and other IT projects as assigned.
• Promote sound IT practices while exercising appropriate caution with unfamiliar, legacy, manufacturing, engineering, or business-critical systems.
