About The Position

As part of a best-in-class Global Health Product & Platforms team, the IT Leader, North America Health will help empower results for our clients and colleagues by delivering innovative and effective technology solutions across our North America Health portfolio! This role combines IT application development leadership with product line ownership responsibilities. You will be responsible for the end-to-end technology roadmap and delivery for a set of health solutions and platforms, ensuring they are strategically aligned to business outcomes and growth goals, technically robust, scalable, and secure, and delivered through modern AI, Agile and DevOps practices. You will direct a team of development managers, technical leads, and developers, including offshore vendor resources. The person in this position will also serve as the primary technology contact for North America Health product and business leaders!

Requirements

  • Prior experience as a Director or senior leader of application development in the Insurance, Benefit Administration, Brokerage or related domains.
  • 10+ years of overall IT experience, with a focus on application development in complex, enterprise environments.
  • 3+ years leading one or more application development teams, including onshore and offshore resources.
  • Strong technology background, with hands‑on understanding of design, development, and integration patterns.
  • High level of proficiency in Agile development methodologies, including practical experience in product‑centric delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience working as a portfolio or product line owner or in close partnership with Product Owners and business collaborators to deliver measurable business outcomes.
  • Experience in cloud platforms, ideally Microsoft Azure.
  • Strong track record of Influencing change as an authority, driving transformation.
  • Defining roadmaps and outlining delivery approaches for complex platforms.
  • Degree in a relevant field (e.g. Business, Health/Benefits, HR, Psychology, Economics, Technology, Data/Analytics) or equivalent experience.

  • Postgraduate qualifications (e.g. MBA, MSc, professional HR/Benefits qualifications) and international experience are an advantage.
  • Strong commercial and financial competence, including P&L, pricing, argument development and investment prioritization ion.
  • Data-driven and client-centric approach; comfortable using EX, health and people analytics to build decisions and evidence value.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as IT Product Line Sr. Leader for North America Health platforms and solutions, with clear accountability for technology strategy, roadmap, and delivery outcomes.
  • Partner closely with Product Owners, Business Leaders, and Operations to define and prioritize the product backlog, translate business strategies and client needs into technology capabilities, and shape multi‑year roadmaps that enable business growth and operational efficiency.
  • Own and manage a portfolio roadmap that balances deployment of Global Platforms to support the objectives of North America Health, new feature development, platform modernization and cloud transformation, regulatory/compliance requirements, and technical debt reduction.
  • Ensure platforms and applications are scalable, while meeting the specific regulatory, client, and operational needs of North America.
  • Drive the ongoing AI and cloud transformation of the North America Health application portfolio.
  • Evaluate and incorporate modern technologies and architectures (e.g., Agentic AI, Vibe.code, event‑driven architectures) to improve scalability, resilience, and integration across the health ecosystem.
  • Ensure the technology roadmap is adequately resourced, including capacity and skills planning, sourcing strategy (internal and external), and budget and investment alignment.
  • Lead the transformation of teams into a fully AI-led delivery model, championing rapid, artificial intelligence driven iterative delivery, robust backlog management, and close business/IT collaboration.
  • Embed Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) and DevOps practices to improve stability, release frequency, and speed‑to‑market.
  • Define and track key delivery and product metrics (e.g., velocity, defect rates, uptime, performance, customer satisfaction) for both internal teams and vendor partners.
  • Lead the end‑to‑end development efforts for one or more major health platforms within a delivery tower, leading a core team of managers, developers, solution architects, and system analysts, and an extended team from strategic vendor partners (onshore and offshore).
  • Partnership with Global platform and capability owners.
  • Be accountable for the maintainability, supportability, extensibility, and performance of the application code base, ensuring adherence to engineering standards and guidelines.
  • Act as the point of escalation for all development and technical issues related to your application and product group.
  • Drive continuous improvement in development processes, quality, and cycle times through metrics, retrospectives, and targeted initiatives.
  • Act as a resource manager for development managers, solution architects, technical leads, and developers, including hiring, coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
  • Provides strong leadership to both onshore and offshore teams, ensuring alignment to standards, practices, and shared goals.
  • Building multi-functional, cross‑skilled teams capable of delivering complex solutions.
  • Maintain relationships with primary business vendor associates, ensuring clear expectations on delivery, quality, and performance, effective governance, and improvement in value and efficiency.
  • Measure and report on team and vendor performance against agreed key performance indicators.
  • Cultivate a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration across the IT and business teams.
  • Be responsible for financials related to the NA Health IT portfolio and projects, including budget planning and forecasting, tracking actuals vs. plan, and identifying and driving optimization opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise architecture, security, risk, and governance standards.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $180k to $200k annually.
