About The Position

Lake Superior Consulting is seeking an IT Intern to support the company’s IT operations under the supervision of the Director of Technology and Security. The position provides hands-on learning and exposure to hardware, software, networking, and cybersecurity. The intern will assist with technology support, network maintenance, cybersecurity activities, equipment deployment, documentation, and research into IT trends and improvements. The role includes other duties as assigned.

The anticipated hourly pay range is $19.00–$23.00. Starting compensation will be determined based on factors including skills, experience, and office/market location. Lake Superior Consulting describes its compensation package as competitive.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong technical skills and experience with computer hardware, software, and networking.
• Familiarity with Windows environments.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving skills.
• Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues.
• Support and maintain the company’s network infrastructure, including switches, routers, and firewalls.
• Participate in developing and implementing cybersecurity protocols and policies.
• Provide technical support to staff by phone, email, or in person.
• Assist with procuring and deploying new technology equipment.
• Document IT procedures and configurations for future reference.
• Research new IT trends and technologies and recommend improvements to the company’s IT systems.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
