About The Position

At Boise Co-op, the IT Infrastructure Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting and advising the IT Director on various aspects of IT infrastructure, including networks, firewalls, servers, and desktops. This position involves designing, implementing, and maintaining IT systems across multiple sites, as well as reviewing and guiding the work of other IT staff. The specialist will troubleshoot escalated technical issues, coordinate vendor activities, and ensure compliance with security updates. A key aspect of the role is capturing knowledge and tracking projects to retain lessons learned. Requirements

  • 5+ years of broad IT experience across networking, servers, firewalls, software, and desktop systems
  • Strong generalist background including Windows/Server environments, networking (Cisco, Meraki, Ubiquiti), firewalls (SonicWall, Palo Alto, FortiGate, etc.), Microsoft 365/Azure AD, VMware/Hyper-V, endpoint management, and basic scripting/automation
  • Proven ability to coordinate projects, mentor team members, and provide technical oversight
  • Trusted partner mindset with the ability to handle confidential information, communicate openly, and take full ownership of responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to keep teams aligned and informed

  • Equivalent combination of hands-on experience and technical knowledge preferred; results and real-world impact are valued over formal degrees or certifications

Responsibilities
