IT Infrastructure Engineer
About The Position
The IT Infrastructure Engineer oversees infrastructure lifecycle management, capacity planning, and service reliability improvements. The role develops automation, scripts, and technical solutions to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual processes. It collaborates with IT teams and business stakeholders on enterprise initiatives, system integrations, and technology enhancements. The engineer also mentors team members, evaluates emerging technologies, and recommends opportunities for improvement. The position supports enterprise infrastructure across cloud, on-premises, and hybrid environments, with a focus on infrastructure reliability, security, performance, and operational best practices. It is based in West Des Moines, Iowa, and is mostly off-site, with infrequent travel of less than 5%. Participation in an on-call support rotation and occasional work outside normal business hours is required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Significant experience in enterprise infrastructure administration, engineering, networking, or systems troubleshooting.
- Experience designing, implementing, or supporting complex infrastructure and platform solutions.
- Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and supporting infrastructure reliability, security, and performance.
- Experience working with cloud, on-premises, or hybrid technology environments.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise infrastructure technologies, including server, storage, compute, networking, and cloud environments.
- Strong understanding of Microsoft operating systems, Active Directory, Entra ID, DNS, DHCP, and enterprise identity management.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI), Hyper-V, and hybrid cloud infrastructure.
- Knowledge of enterprise networking technologies, including LAN/WAN, Cisco Nexus, Meraki, and firewall solutions such as Palo Alto or Fortinet.
- Familiarity with voice and unified communications platforms, including VoIP, Webex Calling, contact center solutions, and cloud telephony.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 collaboration technologies, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure security, vulnerability management, monitoring, capacity planning, and operational best practices.
- Ability to automate infrastructure processes through scripting, tooling, and operational improvements.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complex technical challenges.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and technical mentorship skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accurate technical documentation.
- Ability to work at a computer for extended periods, including frequent use of a keyboard and monitor.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a professional work environment.
Nice To Haves
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Experience leading infrastructure projects, architecture reviews, or enterprise technology initiatives.
- Microsoft, Cisco, or other relevant infrastructure certifications.
