IT Helpdesk Technician

Antares•Los Angeles, CA
•$30 - $58•Onsite

About The Position

As a member of Antares’ IT organization, the IT Helpdesk Technician keeps technology used by software, engineering, manufacturing, lab, and business teams reliable, secure, and ready for work. The role provides hands-on support for workspaces, Windows, macOS, and Linux systems, mobile devices, identity and access systems, networks, conference rooms, and internal applications in an onsite, regulated environment. The ideal candidate is an experienced, service-oriented troubleshooter who can move comfortably between people, devices, and systems; communicate clearly under pressure; document work precisely; and improve recurring workflows rather than repeatedly treating symptoms. The role supports users and technology across the company, including manufacturing, laboratory, and engineering environments, while following safety, security, and change-control practices.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on experience in IT helpdesk, service desk, desktop support, endpoint support, systems administration, or an equivalent technical support role.
  • Basic knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, including DNS, DHCP, RDP, SSH, FTP, and TCP/IP.
  • Professional experience supporting Microsoft and Google environments, plus Windows and macOS endpoints.
  • Familiarity with remote management and remote support tools such as Remote Desktop, TeamViewer, BeyondTrust, NinjaOne, ManageEngine, N-Able, or Datto, or similar tools.
  • Experience working within a ticketing system such as Zendesk, FreshDesk, N-Able, Request Tracker, HelpScout, HaloPSA, or HappyFox.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours.
  • Ability to move and install common IT equipment, including laptops, monitors, small network devices, conference-room equipment, and peripherals.
  • Ability to work onsite in Torrance, California.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with IT operations in a fast-paced environment requiring a creative but well-thought-out approach.
  • Strong troubleshooting fundamentals across hardware, operating systems, SaaS applications, identity, networks, peripherals, and audiovisual systems.
  • Experience supporting aerospace, defense, advanced manufacturing, laboratories, engineering organizations, biotechnology, or other high-availability and compliance-driven environments.
  • Familiarity with ITAR-controlled environments and frameworks or practices such as NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, least privilege, audit logging, evidence collection, and incident reporting.
  • Demonstrated service ownership, calm incident communication, precise documentation, and sound judgment when balancing user urgency with security and operational risk.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft 365 or Endpoint Administrator, Google Workspace Administrator, Jamf, JumpCloud, or ITIL certifications, or equivalent certifications.
  • Experience supporting standard office applications such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, browsers, and CAD software.

Responsibilities

  • Own Tier 1 through Tier 3 support requests from intake and triage through resolution or clear escalation, maintaining timely and professional communication with users.
  • Support and troubleshoot Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, engineering workstations, conference rooms, and approved business applications.
  • Administer day-to-day user, group, license, mailbox, collaboration, and access workflows across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, or Google Workspace environments.
  • Provision, configure, enroll, patch, repair, recover, and decommission endpoints using appropriate device-management, security, and deployment tools.
  • Troubleshoot identity, MFA, SSO, VPN, wired and wireless connectivity, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, and application-access issues while following security and change-control practices.
  • Manage the lifecycle and inventory of laptops, desktops, mobile devices, accessories, software licenses, and loaner equipment, including secure recovery and disposal.
  • Support onboarding, offboarding, access changes, hardware moves, and high-volume deployment events in coordination with People, Security, Facilities, and hiring teams.
  • Operate ticket queues with clear categorization, prioritization, ownership, SLA awareness, escalation notes, and actionable handoffs to systems, network, security, or application owners.
  • Create and maintain user-facing knowledge articles, internal runbooks, configuration records, asset data, and audit-ready evidence for recurring support processes.
  • Support collaboration and audiovisual technologies, including Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, displays, cameras, audio systems, and room scheduling equipment.
  • Troubleshoot technology used in manufacturing, lab, and engineering environments, including specialized workstations and network-connected equipment, without compromising safety or controlled configurations.
  • Use PowerShell, Bash, APIs, or workflow tools to automate repeatable tasks, reduce ticket volume, and improve consistency and visibility.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and work occasional evenings, weekends, or extended hours to support critical incidents, milestones, onboarding surges, audits, hardware moves, or facility needs.
  • Move and install common IT equipment, walk through production or lab areas, and occasionally travel between company or vendor locations.
  • Work onsite in Torrance, California, and support urgent engineering, manufacturing, facility, security, or business milestones as needed.
