About The Position

The Desktop Support Asset Manager works within a team to coordinate procurement and asset management for the Office of Technology and Digital Innovation (OTDI) and OTDI-managed IT support customers, primarily those located on the Newark campus. The role ensures desktop support assets are tagged and tracked in the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), and that standard configurations are stocked and ready for imaging and deployment. It coordinates new-hire and refresh requests and fulfillment, including entering workstation requests, managing inventory, and scheduling deployments. The position also manages and reviews stockroom inventory, conducts regular audits, tracks desktop support and hardware refresh budget use, and coordinates surplus processes for reclaiming and retiring equipment. The specialist also works with Desktop Support Specialists to provide professional computer support to OTDI-supported customers. This includes technical assistance resolving software, hardware, and network issues across Windows and Mac OS platforms, both on-site and remotely. The role requires a professional, client-focused approach and the ability to work independently with limited direction as well as in a team. The position communicates, tracks, and reports computing environment outages; receives, resolves, escalates, and monitors complex customer issues and requests; and leads less experienced staff in providing immediate assistance and resolving issues. It may act as team leader for complex help desk projects, assignments, and issues, and may serve as an on-call escalation point.
