About The Position

Kentro is hiring for an IT Asset Management (ITAM) Support Specialist to support Kentro's VA ESOM contract. This position can be performed remotely within the United States and will support Eastern Time working hours. The role involves supporting the enterprise strategy for Hardware Asset Management (HAM), Software Asset Management (SAM), and activation management, ensuring alignment with VA modernization goals and Federal IT asset management standards. Responsibilities include conducting reviews of existing asset management practices, assisting in the redesign of processes and policies, and evaluating automation and workflow optimization. The specialist will oversee enterprise software lifecycle governance, modernize SAM practices for cloud and subscription models, and ensure implementation of GAO and OIG recommendations. For HAM, the role involves assisting with hardware lifecycle management, restructuring workflows, and ensuring compliance with sustainability, security, and disposal standards. Activation management includes ensuring timely and compliant activation of hardware, software, and licenses, and establishing performance metrics. Stakeholder engagement involves providing executive-level briefings and partnering with various departments. Continuous improvement includes establishing KPIs, OKRs, and maturity models, and driving adoption of leading practices. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, mathematics, business administration. An additional 8 years of relevant experience may be subsntituted for the degree requirement for a total of 16+ years of relevant experience.
  • 8 years of senior-level leadership experience in Federal IT asset management, enterprise IT operations, or large-scale program management.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL practices and hands-on experience with ServiceNow HAM and/or SAM modules.
  • Familiarity with Federal acquisition regulations and GAO/OIG audit frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in organizational transformation, process redesign, and enterprise governance.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage enterprise-wide programs.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to brief and influence executive stakeholders.

  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) or another large Federal agency.

Responsibilities

  • Support the enterprise strategy for HAM, SAM, and activation management, ensuring alignment with VA modernization goals and Federal IT asset management standards.
  • Conduct reviews of existing asset management practices to identify gaps, inefficiencies, and compliance risks.
  • Assist in the redesign and restructuring of asset management processes, policies, and governance frameworks to improve accuracy, accountability, and operational maturity.
  • Evaluate and implement automation, data integration, and workflow optimization across the asset lifecycle.
  • Work with current leadership to oversee enterprise software lifecycle governance, including acquisition, deployment, license optimization, compliance monitoring, and retirement.
  • Modernize SAM practices to address cloud licensing, subscription models, and evolving vendor requirements.
  • Ensure implementation of GAO and OIG recommendations related to software visibility, restrictive licensing, and audit readiness.
  • Establish SAM processes within the VA’s ServiceNow platform to improve reporting, cost avoidance, and compliance outcomes.
  • Assist current leadership with hardware lifecycle management, ensuring accurate inventory, configuration tracking, warranty management, and end-of-life planning.
  • Assist in the restructuring of HAM workflows to eliminate redundancies, improve data quality, and strengthen alignment with cybersecurity and supply chain requirements.
  • Ensure HAM operations meet Federal sustainability, security, and disposal standards.
  • Ensure future-state goals are documented and that all processes and practices point toward a collaborated effort to achieve the stated mission.
  • Provide consultation on the integration of HAM processes into the VA’s ServiceNow platform to improve reporting, cost avoidance, and compliance outcomes.
  • Ensure implementation of GAO and OIG recommendations related to hardware asset management and audit readiness.
  • Assist current leadership with enterprise activation management, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant activation of hardware, software, and licenses across VA facilities.
  • Provide direct consultation in the review and redesign of activation workflows to reduce delays, improve coordination, and enhance visibility across OIT and field operations.
  • Establish performance metrics and dashboards to monitor activation throughput, accuracy, and service quality.
  • Provide executive-level briefings, performance dashboards, and strategic recommendations to VA leadership, OIT executives, and Congressional oversight bodies.
  • Partner with procurement, cybersecurity, finance, legal, and field operations to ensure asset decisions support mission readiness, cost efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
  • Assist ITAM leadership in representing the VA in Federal IT asset management forums and interagency working groups.
  • Help coordinate efforts with VA Logistics partners as required.
  • Establish KPIs, OKRs, and maturity models for HAM, SAM, and Activation programs, ensuring measurable improvements in asset visibility, cost savings, compliance, and operational performance.
  • Drive adoption of leading practices, emerging technologies, and continuous improvement methodologies across asset management functions.
  • Ensure programs maintain readiness for internal and external audits.
