About The Position

The Irrigation Technician III works under the general supervision of the Parks Foreman to maintain, inspect, and operate City irrigation systems and support special events.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Three years of experience installing and maintaining irrigation systems, including multi-strand and 2-wire/decoder systems.
Valid driver's license.
TCEQ Licensed Landscape Irrigator.

Responsibilities

Repair and maintain all irrigation systems managed by the Parks Department.
Inspect assigned irrigation systems, backflow devices, and control boxes.
Work with the Parks Maintenance Division Director and Parks Planner to write and update irrigation specifications for related City projects.
Estimate project costs and purchase supplies, following purchasing procedures.
Maintain an inventory of needed repair parts.
Supervise temporary and permanent employees during irrigation projects.
Coordinate with other City departments on inspection, maintenance, and replacement of system backflow devices.
Support City and private special events, including setting up and taking down the portable stage.
Work with contractors on repairs and upgrades to existing systems and on new installations.
Provide input to help the Parks and GIS departments accurately map irrigation systems.
Provide irrigation design and supervise installation and system modifications as assigned.
Follow City policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned.
