About The Position

Sampson County Parks & Recreation is seeking a Recreation Manager to coordinate and manage recreation programs for county residents. The position assists the Parks & Recreation Director with strategic planning, budgeting, and setting departmental goals. It oversees staff, supports community partnerships, and helps ensure recreation facilities and programs are well managed. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with coursework in recreation, sports management, or a related field.
• Three to five years of experience in organized recreation programs.
• Must be approachable, optimistic, and decisive.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Nice To Haves

• Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement recreational programs, activities, and special events.
• Manage staff and budgets.
• Assist the Director in developing a strategic plan, budget, and departmental goals.
• Purchase and inventory programming equipment and supplies.
• Mentor and train full-time staff.
• Hire and train full-time and part-time staff.
• Schedule games.
• Build strong community partnerships.
• Perform related work as apparent or assigned.
