(PARKS & RECREATION) Recreation Manager
About The Position
Sampson County Parks & Recreation is seeking a Recreation Manager to coordinate and manage recreation programs for county residents. The role assists the Parks & Recreation Director with developing the department’s strategic plan, budget, and goals. The Recreation Manager directs and implements recreation programs, activities, and special events; manages staff and budgets; and helps ensure facilities and programming equipment and supplies are maintained. The position hires, trains, mentors, and schedules full-time and part-time staff, and builds community partnerships. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Parks & Recreation Director. The role calls for an approachable, optimistic, and decisive leader. The beginning salary is $58,596 per year, with a comprehensive benefits package.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with coursework in recreation, sports management, or a related field; an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Three to five years of experience in organized recreation programs.
- Approachable, optimistic, and decisive.

- Certified Park and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred.
