iOS Engineer

Trove•New York, NY

About The Position

Trove is an early-stage, profitable collectibles startup backed by venture capital firms and athletes. Its gamified trading-card platform provides digital access to physical inventory. The company has about 20 employees distributed across the US, Canada, Europe, and South America. iOS is Trove’s flagship platform and sets the standard for functionality and user experience across web and Android. The iOS Engineer will own iOS end to end, including its architecture, standards, and full product surface. This is Trove’s first hire dedicated to setting the technical direction for iOS. The engineer will make long-term architectural decisions, build engaging features, and work closely with the founding team to shape ideas from early concepts through implementation. The work emphasizes design, detailed animation, and interaction, with substantial influence over the product’s evolution. This is a leadership role as an individual contributor, not a people-management position. Success means delivering an effortless, engaging, fast, and stable app; enabling rapid experimentation without accumulating technical debt; shipping polished features multiple times each month; and establishing engineering and iOS quality as a differentiator for Trove.

Requirements

  • Deep expertise in Swift, SwiftUI, and UIKit, beyond feature-level work.
  • A history of shipping and scaling a highly interactive consumer app and owning its full product surface.
  • Polished, animation-heavy work that can be demonstrated.
  • Experience building complex, stateful interfaces that feel simple to users.
  • Real 0-to-1 experience inside a company, rather than only side projects or agency work.
  • Comfort making architectural decisions with incomplete information and adjusting when priorities change.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in marketplace, fintech, gaming, or social apps.
