About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has a potential opportunity for a civilian Full Time Interventional Radiologist at The Audie. L. Murphy VA Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. This position involves direct patient care, performing various Interventional Radiology procedures, communicating test results, and consulting with referring physicians. The role requires a minimum of two years of recent experience in Radiology/Interventional Radiology, a valid unrestricted license, and board certification in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology. Responsibilities include performing procedures such as drainage, catheter placement, biopsies, stenting, embolization, and more, as well as reviewing consults and providing post-procedure follow-up.

Requirements

  • Graduated from a medical school approved by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association or Permanent Certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates.
  • A minimum experience of two (2) years within the last three (3) years routinely practicing as a Physician Radiology/Interventional Radiology. Residency and fellowship time counts as practicing experience.
  • Valid unrestricted license.
  • BLS certification.
  • Board Certification in Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology.

Responsibilities

  • Providing Interventional Radiology procedures, including Drainage Procedure/image cath fluid collection, Artery x-rays arm/leg(Angiogram)/Place catheter in vein, Repair of tunnel central venous catheter/Venogram, Echo guide with Biopsy/Exploration of abdomen, Insert tunneled cv cath (PORT placement or removal)/ Repair of tunnel central venous catheter, Fistulogram/Insertion/Removal, Lung Biopsy, Percutaneous chest tube insertion, Angioplasty with stenting/Trluml balo angiop addl artery, TACE (Embolization), IVC Filter, Cryoablation Kidney Tumor.
  • Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
  • Providing consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications for Interventional radiologic procedures.
  • Determining the appropriate course of treatment and communicating in person or by phone with the referring clinicians.
  • Providing review of consults/orders and next-day patient cases for a minimum of one hour daily.
  • Providing post-procedure evaluation and follow-up and clinical consultations.
