About The Position

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. This program offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy industry while enhancing professional and interpersonal skills. Interns will participate in meaningful projects that support the company's vision of delivering energy to improve lives and create a better world. Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America, operating approximately 78,000 miles of pipelines and 136 terminals. Their pipelines transport natural gas, gasoline, crude oil, and carbon dioxide (CO2), while their terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, and vegetable oils. The company is a market leader in Natural Gas Pipelines, Products Pipelines, CO2, and Terminals, with a significant and diversified asset footprint crucial to North American energy infrastructure.

Requirements

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Self-motivated with demonstrated interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in both a team and individual environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong computer skills are essential.
  • Driven to discover and determined to deliver.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to the operations of Kinder Morgan natural gas pipelines and/or gas processing facilities.
  • Assist with pipeline operations including compressor station operations and maintenance, pipeline system operation, gas plant operations, pigging operations, and corrosion control.
  • Support automation efforts including Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, Human-Machine Interface (HMI) development, and control system hardware design.
  • Contribute to gas measurement tasks including pipe volume calculations, gas loss calculations, and system balance analysis.
  • Assist with mechanical or process design, including sizing new and/or replacement equipment using established Codes and Standards, and analyzing auxiliary systems for new or existing natural gas facilities.
