About The Position

The BOLT (Building Opportunities & Learning Together) Intern Program is Kinder Morgan’s elite summer internship program. This program offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the energy industry while enhancing professional and interpersonal skills. Interns will participate in meaningful projects that support the company's vision of delivering energy to improve lives and create a better world.

Requirements

  • Working toward a degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, or Electrical Engineering, ideally entering Junior or Senior year of college.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office – (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills including technical writing ability.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment, self-motivated, and to be able to work independently.

Responsibilities

  • Providing technical support to the operations of Kinder Morgan’s natural gas pipelines.
  • Development and review of safety and regulatory compliance tracking and reporting, which may also include technical writing for operating and safety procedures.
  • Analysis of operational data and the development of performance and reliability metrics.
  • Development and implementation of projects to ensure operational reliability and efficiency.
  • Miscellaneous pipeline and compressor engineering calculations and monitoring.
  • Gas Measurement including pipe volume calculations, gas loss calculations, system balance analysis, technology evaluation and support of design specifications.
  • Development of a capstone presentation to summarize activities and learning during the BOLT Internship.
