Requirements

  • College education and equivalent work experience.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in commercial auto underwriting.
  • Good computer skills and knowledge of Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Knowledge of RTM, Passport is an asset.
  • Team player who adapts easily to a growing environment.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
  • Organized and skilled in priority management.
  • Possess the CIP designation or be in the process of obtaining it.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, negotiate, and correctly set the rate for assigned policies to ensure profitable business volume within granted authority and in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
  • Finalize data entry for insurance contracts to ensure timely transactions.
  • Ensure endorsements, renewals, reissues, and cancellations are reviewed and analyzed according to company standards and guidelines.
  • Collaborate on the implementation of renewal rate guidelines, commitments, and premium adequacy.
  • Analyze the profitability of new business opportunities under the direction of a senior underwriter by assessing risks determined through underwriting data review.
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with brokers and clients to improve understanding of the target market and contribute to service quality, problem resolution, and risk selection in accordance with company standards.
  • Collaborate with brokers and clients to foster customer loyalty and satisfaction through regular communication.
  • Participate as needed in communications and information sharing with brokers regarding commercial insurance underwriting philosophy, policies, and procedures.
  • Understand and adopt company best practices for compliance, internal control, and operational risk control measures.
  • Assist with performance review processes related to pricing control, risk selection, and data quality.
  • Collaborate on special tasks and projects as needed.
