About The Position

Purdys Chocolatier is looking for an Intermediate Accountant to join their Finance team in Vancouver, BC. This role reports to the Finance Manager and Director of Finance. The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for preparing financial statements, account reconciliations/accruals, and auditing functions in accordance with standard policies and procedures. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's in Business Administration with a major in accounting.
  • Actively pursuing or planning to pursue a CPA.
  • 1-2 years of public practice experience in an accounting firm, OR 3-5 years of general accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting standards.
  • Intermediate MS Excel knowledge.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with an ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with an ability to effectively communicate across a large group of stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SyteLine is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and analyze periodic departmental income statements against budgets and review variances with department managers.
  • Assist with period, quarter, semi-annual, and annual closings, as well as departmental yearly budget coordination.
  • Generate internal reports for departments and periodic reports for external parties.
  • Manage capital assets, amortizations, credit card expense accruals, and general ledger reconciliations.
  • Manage sales channels reporting platforms and update/maintain relevant spreadsheets and databases.
  • Participate in the automation of key processes, including revenue recognition, bank reconciliations, accounts payable, and accounts receivable functions.
  • Lead initiatives with the Senior Accountant to streamline period-end close by proposing automation within the system, streamlining journal entry preparation, and recognizing redundant procedures.
  • Audit and review invoices, expenses, cash, promotions, and incentives.
